Joe’s MOPAR’s – Latest Projects
7/8/2010
Not much getting done to any projects right now, to hot and trying to get some tasks done around the house & property. Did pick up a good car for body panel parts to fix up my Charger. Planning a trip to a car museum in Alabama the 3rd weekend in August.
5/5/2010 Got my heads back and got the Charger all put togerther and running now. Now I can start working on the body to get it ready for paint. Can’t wait for our next local event so that I can drive it rather than ride the bike or drive my truck. Planning on taking the trip to Denver, CO the end of the month, it should be a great time. 1/27/2010 Got the motor put in the Charger and got it running, sounded great. After about an hour of running and tweaking on timing and carb, called it a night. Next evening went to start it again to do a little more tweaking, popped a head off of the #3 cyl intake valve. Currently have a shop reworking the heads with porting & polishing, all new MOPAR performance stainless steel valves. Bought lots of other goodies to upgrade the car while I’m at it, like headers, new 750cfm carb, new 2.5 in dual exhaust kit with racing mufflers and I port matched the intake to the heads. I also worked on some things to dress up the motor, I took an old Edlebrock Elite air cleaner and made a one of a kind air cleaner for it.
My Custom air cleaner!
Can’t wait to get the heads back so I can get it running again. Sold the ‘79 Dodge truck to focus on the Charger. The ‘82 Dodge Rampage is running again sort of, the electric cooling fan relay & controler smoked on it, the nthe battery went bad. Replaced battery & fan relay & controler, just need to change the rod bearings & get the carb cleaned out again, so that I can start driving it again. Well, I have started the task of swapping the motors between the Charger and the truck. I have the motor bolted back in the truck and most everything bolted back on. I have to finish the cooling system & the carb and linkage, and the exhaust before I’m ready to try to fire-up the truck. The motor for the Charger is still sitting in the cradle beside the car, waiting on a few parts. Tomorrow I will be getting the cam and K-member mounts to install prior to re-installing the motor. By the way, if anyone is looking for the poly K-member bushings, you can get them through AutoZone for $96.99+tax, they call them body mounts, part # is: 5.4111G made by Energy Suspensions. 2-25-09 Got a lot done on the ‘79 dodge truck over the past couple days. The motor is all back in it and got the headers installed. All I have left to do is build the pipes from the reducers once I get them tomorrow and install the mufflers, install the new heater blower motor and choke cable.
